On January 5, 2023, Hughes Network Systems, LLC, an EchoStar company, announced that it had expanded its portfolio of managed cybersecurity services for distributed enterprises to include security operations centers (SOCaaS) and managed detection and response (MDR). The latest additions bring network security expertise from Hughes and the benefits of in-house, enterprise-grade protections to small and medium-sized enterprises, scaled and tailored to meet their requirements.
Hughes now offers smaller-sized enterprises (up to 1,000 employees) access to the same capabilities as major enterprises, which have in-house experts and their own Security Operations Centers (SOCs) to mitigate cyber risks. With the addition of SOCaaS and MDR, the company now offers a comprehensive package of managed security services to help avoid, detect, and respond to threats aimed at smaller enterprises.
Hughes added that small and medium-sized businesses face an increased danger of cyberattacks such as malware, phishing, and ransomware – just as large companies do – but generally lack the in-house expertise to combat these threats. Its managed security services, based on its 50 years of managing its networks and those of its commercial and government customers, put enterprise-grade protection in the hands of smaller organizations.
The new Hughes MDR service protects businesses from cyber criminals through proactive intervention, active threat containment, and real-time incident response, all of which are facilitated by automation and the attention of trained security professionals. Through the SOCaaS service, Hughes-certified SOC analysts watch for threats to customer networks and respond to them 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. This gives customers the benefit of Hughes's decades of experience in network security. With both services, SOC analysts manage security information and event management (SIEM), and a real-time dashboard shows customers how secure their network is.
