Ericsson is targeting a USD 90 billion small and medium business (SMB) market in the United States with a 5G-ready virtual workplace service intended to meet the demands of more than 6 million companies, accounting for 40% of the US workforce. Ericsson Wireless Office eliminates the need for in-house IT expertise, physical installations, and devices by providing reliable and safe network connectivity anywhere and at any time. The embedded security framework provides a safe remote access service that allows companies to protect their applications from Internet threats while retaining control and governance of contractors, partners, vendors, and employees.
Ericsson has formed a strategic alliance with Telarus, the largest privately owned master agent in the United States, to sell Ericsson Wireless Office through its vast ecosystem of technology consultants.
Telarus CEO Adam Edwards says: "We are constantly looking at new ways to diversify our portfolio of innovative solutions that have real differentiation in the market. Ericsson Wireless Office is ideal for today's businesses, where remote and hybrid job models are becoming the trend. It's a one-of-a-kind service that automates desktop provisioning and software license management, allowing businesses to work from anywhere."
The global pandemic has raised the need for remote workers and has intensified the digitalization of workplaces. According to a new Ericsson Industry Lab report, almost 60% of white-collar jobs will take place outside of business premises by 2030. Ericsson Wireless Office meets the needs of businesses by adapting their IT strategy to serve digital remote-work models simply and safely. The solution enables businesses with minimal IT personnel and resources to easily onboard employees and consultants with access to high-performance virtual desktops, which provide business apps, compute, storage, and redundancy. Employees can operate from any location and on any major operating system or device.
Ericsson Wireless Office utilizes key Workspace as a Service (WaaS) technology obtained from StratusWorX, a cloud technology service provider that provides fully managed IT environments to small and medium-sized businesses. Ericsson completed the purchase of the StratusWorX WaaS Platform technology and patent portfolio on July 31, 2020.
Ericsson Wireless Office adds to Ericsson's existing enterprise portfolio.
Ericsson enables telecom service providers to fully realize the value of connectivity. The portfolio of the company includes Networks, Digital Platforms, Managed Services, and Emerging Business, and it is planned to assist their clients in digital transformation, increasing efficiency, and finding new revenue sources.
