Small business hiring slowed in June, ADP says

Small businesses added just 17,000 jobs in June as hiring slowed dramatically during the month, payroll processor ADP said Thursday. ADP, which counted the number of jobs at its small business customers, also revised lower its count of new jobs for April and May combined; it now says 95,000 were added, down from the 151,000 originally reported. The June performance was down dramatically from the average of nearly 80,000 jobs added each month this year. The drop in small business hiring reflects a trend toward slower job growth at companies regardless of size.
