Now is the time for small businesses to prepare for tax season

Halloween may have just swept off the calendar with an eerie whoosh, but the scariest of seasons is still ahead – the one that wraps up on April 15 – and gives some small business owners real nightmares. November and December provide the perfect time to get ready for tax season, said Adrienne Webster, owner of AOW Tax and Accounting. It's the topic of the next Make.Learn.Grow. lunchtime learning session, hosted by The Maker City on Nov. 21 at the Knoxville Entrepreneur Center. “This is a great time to do tax estimates,” Webster said. “I try to reach out to most of my clients to get an idea of where they’re at for the year. We want to get an idea of gross sales and expenses so we can start preparing for what they might owe in taxes and maybe take the next steps to tackle that: making estimated payments or maybe spending some money to save in taxes.
