South Burnett groups share in $1.2m of drought funding

MUSICIANS and tutors will visit the South Burnett to share knowledge with the region's talent thanks to drought funding.The South Burnett Community Orchestra has secured $19,000 in funding from the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal (FRRR) to run a series of free weekend musical workshops.President of the orchestra Jane Kennedy said they are proud to be able to provide a chance for the community to come together and learn new skills in what is a tough time for many."Since the orchestra started in 2006 it has changed so many people lives and people know they can come here and have a laugh and we wanted to open that up to the community," she said."When you are in financially tough times the first thing that goes are the extras like music lessons and sport. The orchestra will bring tutors from outside the region for six workshops throughout the year with the first to be on March 30 and will hold a community concert following the final workshop.
