Chase awards funds to support local small businesses

JPMorgan Chase & Co. has awarded $500,000 to three local organizations that provide programs to support the growth of small businesses.New Orleans BioInnovation Center will receive $250,000 in grants, startup incubator Propeller will receive $125,000 and the public-private partnership New Orleans Business Alliance will get $125,000.The BioInnovation Center says it will use the money to support its annual summit for entrepreneurs as well as its partnerships with Xavier University and Delgado Community College.Propeller says the funds will help find startups focused on water management, and the NOLABA wants to help small businesses find work in the health care, construction and hospitality industries.
