Tyler gives details on locations and funding for infrastructure updates

The state of Tyler's infrastructure is one of the most pressing issues. Jobs, quality of life, economic competitiveness and public safety all depend on it.Much of Tyler's infrastructure (streets, water systems, drainage systems and sewer systems) was installed in the early 20th century and has reached the end of its useful life. Two years ago, the Tyler City Council made a pledge to modernize the community's infrastructure. Last year, the City of Tyler spent $20 million dollars, 13 percent of the City's total budget, on maintenance, repair and improvements. No other city in the State of Texas can claim this achievement. Status: All work is complete except for a tie-in at the filters. Water leaks have been discovered in pipe coming from filters. Engineer and contractor are developing a plan to address the repairs.
